HORECA Lebanon 2023: A Celebration of Lebanese Hospitality
The latest edition of HORECA Lebanon, held from April 25-28, 2023, was a resounding success. With over 12,000 visitors, 160 exhibitors, and 100 international culinary experts, the event brought together the best of the hospitality industry at Beirut’s Seaside Arena for four days of networking and inspiration.
A Grand Opening
The opening day of HORECA Lebanon on April 25 was a star-studded affair. Prominent figures from the industry, including Lebanese Minister of Tourism, H.E. Walid Nassar, ambassadors, presidents of associations, media representatives, and celebrity chefs, graced the event. H.E. Nassar presented awards to Lebanese chefs who have made significant contributions to promoting Lebanese cuisine worldwide.
Connect. Be Inspired. Explore.
Under the theme “Connect. Be Inspired. Explore.,” HORECA Lebanon attracted decision-makers, senior professionals, beverage experts, hospitality leaders, and buyers. The four-day event fostered positive dialogues and facilitated discussions on the latest innovations and trends in the hospitality and foodservice industries.
Promoting Lebanese Production
HORECA Lebanon invited more than 30 buyers from Europe and beyond to discover the newest products and promote Lebanese production globally. The Hosted Buyers’ Program, organized in collaboration with the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), aimed to boost exports from Lebanon and showcase the country’s potential.
A Reflection on Success
Joumana Dammous-Salamé, the managing director of Hospitality Services, expressed her satisfaction with the event, stating, “We have worked hard to put together this special edition, celebrating the essence of Lebanese hospitality. We honor the achievements of our peers and our determination to reimagine the industry of tomorrow. Together, we can achieve great things.”
An Array of Engaging Activities
In addition to the exhibition area, HORECA Lebanon 2023 offered a diverse range of activities:
HORECA Talks:
More than 20 sessions with over 100 speakers addressed the latest industry trends, challenges, and opportunities for Lebanese companies. Panelists included hoteliers, restaurateurs, chefs, and tourism experts.
HORECA Stage:
The stage hosted competitions, masterclasses, and sessions with renowned local and international guests. Culinary masterclasses and Q&A sessions were conducted by Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Alan Geaam, as well as award-winning Lebanese chefs Antonio Bachour and Philip Khoury.
HORECA Innovations:
A pavilion showcased innovative products and locally made substitutes. Out of 46 entries, 25 products were selected by the advisory board for display, and the creators were recognized for their ingenuity.
HORECA Theatre:
A platform for Lebanese chefs to conduct masterclasses and tastings, the theatre showcased a variety of themes, including desserts infused with local flavors, the incorporation of wild herbs into dishes, a fusion of Lebanese and Spanish cuisine, unique garnishing techniques, and a contemporary twist on signature local dishes.
